I need to know what setting you use under the 'basal calories' menu

Can I piggy back on this question please? There are a lot of threads around this but they are not very clear to me.
I've been using my fitness pal for some time and I have set my profile to 'sedentary'. This adjusts the number of calories I should use each day and experience has shown that that this is spot on.
I now use pacer as well and it has the following setting for basal calories:
default pacer
default MFP profile
Lightly active, etc.
Using each of these gives a slightly different active calorie adjustment in MFP. I suppose I'm confused why pacer has these settings at all as it measures actual steps. I totally get why there is an adjustment in MFP though.
So what pacer setting should I use? 'Default pacer' seems to provide an adjustment much below what a manual calculation on MFP would provide. But it seems strange that I could be sedentary in MFP but need to show lightly active in Pacer.
Can anyone help please? And is there a 'help' section in pacer somewhere?
Thanks
