I wonder what effect the demerits have? Can Hobbes be kicked out of G.R.O.S.S.?

I was the one who went to the parent/teacher conferences generally. It wasn't always awful. lol

I'm not sure which parent/teacher conference was the worst. Both of my kids had learning challenges so conferences were often about what I could do as a parent to help etc.
Probably the worst one was back in elementary school when the teachers union were in the midst of negotiations. The teacher hadn't prepared anything about addressing my dyslexic child's IEP and only wanted to solicit support from parents for the informal protest march they were planning... you know, extra bodies to hold signs and suchlike since they weren't actually on strike so teachers had to work...
When he dismissed my questions about the IEP as being less important than the protest, I told him precisely where he could stick his protest signs and that unless he had something meaningful to say about my child's IEP, I was leaving... and my next stop was the principal's office to submit a complaint. Oddly enough, that got his attention.

The joy of the vivid imagination! For Grade One parent/teacher conferences, the teacher had the kids draw Halloween critters and give them names. Bats and pumpkins were popular. My daughter's bat was named "Echo Location" which I assume the teacher helped her to spell. lol

Good for you for not giving in and sticking to what was important for your child.1 -

I'm not the kind to get annoyed easily so I kept trying to be polite. Once I finally got through to the teacher, things went better.
Later in the year, I went along on a field trip to a museum with the class. The teacher assigned the three worst behaved children to me. I made it clear to the kids that shenanigans would not be tolerated... and they cooperated. When it came time for the bus back, all of my kids were lined up and ready... but two of the kids with the teacher were missing... soon to be found in the washroom at the museum. lol0 -
