I've read that you should still count calories after throwing up, but I don't know how true this is or the most accurate way to count when ill with a stomach bug. What's a good rule of thumb?

If your eating to excess and you need to subtract the fallout in the toilet I would just make the adjustment going forward and eat less until you stop throwing up. j/k

If you are throwing up - focus on getting better and not on calories.

Who eats when they're sick with a stomach bug?

1 tablespoon of water or suck on 1 ice cube. Wait 30 minutes. 2 tablespoons of water or 2 ice cubes. Wait 30 minutes. Continue for about 3 hours. If you keep all that down, you can progress to clear fluids/oral rehydrating solution. If you start to get sick again - go back to the beginning.

Once you're not vomiting and feel hungry - you can go back to eating/logging.

Don't worry about logging if you are barfing.

Feel like I need to clear something up. I unexpectedly got sick after having a large dinner. I would like to not care but my doctor wants me to take great care in tracking my protein.

Its one meal. Just make a guess and mention it to your doctor.

I don't usually count calories when I'm sick..regardless if it's stomach or flu. Usually my appetite is gone and having 2-3 days of no tracking doesn't crash my plan. However, if I eat something and feel up to it, I'll track it...just to be an overachiever. ;)
