So I am now getting within my goal range and find myself almost sabotaging my weight loss. Every time I get close I fall back into those bad habits I was in before and tend to gain every pound back even quicker than before. It doesn't make any sense to me other than I really just want a nice greasy burger sometimes ! It's not as though I'm not working out but have thought about dating and relationships more. I am more or less just looking to see if anyone else experiences this the closer to goal they get and how to deal with it constructively.

It sounds like you're denying yourself juicy cheeseburgers, something you crave. It's natural enough that you can't be true to a diet that isn't true to you. I'd revamp your diet so you're not denying yourself such foods. I ate at Five Guys on Thursday--a yummy fast food restaurant--while doing well by both a calorie / weight loss perspective and a USDA / nutrient perspective. Giving up favorite foods isn't typically necessary for health or weight loss.

Perhaps you need more fat in your diet. When I was thin, I used to crave liver cheese because it has that ring of fat around the outside. I've found that not paying attention to cravings results in overeating.

Are you not allowing yourself to eat any foods you really like? If that's the case, maybe think about learning how to work a burger into your daily calorie goal sometimes so you don't feel like you're torturing yourself. You don't have to live on chicken breast and broccoli to lose weight!

Eat the cheeseburger. There ARE ways to fit all these things into our caloric allotments.

Yes, budget for the cheeseburger. You can't eat them all the time, but for heaven's sake, NEVER isn't a good option!

I believe that's possibly my issue. I have myself so convinced that if I go outside of my lean meats and veggies that I will stop eating well, etc. Since coming to the site and entering every bit of food I eat the visual makes it clear that as long as I don't overindulge I do pretty good. I didn't have a burger but splurged on a slice of pizza after 2 hours at the gym today ! Thanks for the responses.

I ate 4 slices of pizza on the weekend do I feel guilty about that ... Hell no, It was yummy but I live an 80% 20% eating life style that is Low GI most of the time. on weekends I have that food I've been wanting all week

I don't call it a cheat day as it's not cheating it's living, I call it my "free meal" I'm free to eat what ever I want :D

As you get closer, decrease your deficit. Then you can eat more. And there's nothing wrong with a burger once in a while. Just eat more lightly the rest of the day or 100 less calories for a couple days to make up for it (or make your own at home for 500 calories).

It's a lifestyle change... you have to start treating it as such. Things won't magically change once you reach your goal weight either, you'll just be able to eat a bit more (if you do it 'right', just 200-300 calories more).
