Buying new clothes after Weightloss

How do you guys go about purchasing new clothes? Do u keep wearing the same old clothes even though they are loose on you or do you buy as you go? I'm in this predicament right now. I am halfway through my weightloss and my clothes are loose and baggy. I think I am going to buy new clothes soon and get rid of the old ones. I don't want to go back to my old weight, ever again and I feel like holding on to these clothes makes it hard for me to realize how far I've come.

You could try a thrift store for interim clothes, but I recommend getting some clothing that fits you now.0

Getting new clothes is FUN!!! Reward yourself with something that fits you. You deserve it0

I agree with the thrift store idea. Maybe buy a few good items at a store you'd normally shop at and then get other things at a goodwill or savers type of store, knowing you're going to lose more weight.
I'm in the same predicament but reverse kinda. I've gained so much lately that hardly any of my clothes fit, but I don't want to buy new clothes knowing I am going to get serious about losing. So I am going to go out this week and see if I can find a pair of pants or two to get me by.0 -
I think if it's in your budget go for some items, but shop smart. Hold out for items that you feel great in and are likely to keep fitting well for a while. For example, things with some stretch to them, elastic, etc. You can get leggings and wear them with loose tops. Skirts and dresses will often keep working for a while, perhaps adding a belt to a dress when it gets very loose. I find really structured & tailored clothes are harder, for example dresses with darts and fitted pants, although if you sew at all you can buy those items and take them in later.0

I buy as I go. One great fitting pair of black jeans (a cheap pair from Walmart that has some stretch) and a few well fitting (inexpensive) tops. You'll feel so much better, wearing clothes that fit.0

I went from size 42 to 34. Luckily, I had some old clothes that I could wear. Eventually, the size 36s had to go too. I had to get rid of A LOT of clothes, but it was one of the best days of my life.
Perhaps buy just enough to "get by" until you hit your goal weight. That way you don't have to wear baggy clothes and you don't spend too much money each time you drop a size. Buying from a thrift store is also a great idea.0 -
Thanks everyone for the replies! It's a bittersweet change. Happy to be losing weight but hard to see a lot of things go, as I've been the same size for a long time. But all my old tshirts are going to be made into a Tshirt blanket.0

Buy as I go… but minimal pieces. And good basic pieces that can be worn all the time and will go with everything. I also try to buy things a little smaller than I would normally like (as long as it's wearable) and keep them until they are just a bit bigger than I would normally like. And yes… thrift stores are your friend!0

I've pretty much leveled out now, but last spring and summer it seemed I was always "undergrowing" my clothes. It got pretty hard on the pocketbook to try to keep up with new ones, so I frequented thrift stores and clearance racks.0

I buy things as I go. Not too much at once and I have found dresses to be easier. Not as noticeable as they get loose.0

Thanks for this thread. I'm glad the weight is melting off but not used to the rapid clothes size changes!!0
