So been at this above 6months now and battled through various things with chest issue, wonky knees and an inner ear infection .. Decided to try 5x5 .. bought some cheap *kitten* weights before xmas as they were on sale at £20 for 35kg set .. i know..low weights and cheap rubbish i hear you all say, but if my chest wont allow me to do the lifts i would be throwing away a lot of money on good equipment, so i figured start with a low weight cheap set and IF i can do this then i can move onwards n upwards at a later date .. i also need a bench etc etc..
So for now im getting used to the low weight and will work on form for the next 6weeks .. as im going away again soon n i dont want to be immobilised.. lol

Ive been doing squats with dumbells for a while now, so the squats i was actually ok with.. after reading teh 5x5 webpages i tried it with no weight on .. almost fell backwards.. lol so i addd on 7.5kg and started up again ... GREAT ... ive been doing 20kg dumbell squats for a while n i guess they readied me for this one.. bit awkward on the shoulders but ill get used to it.

Deadlifts .. stuck with same weights with all the lifts while i get used to it all etc.. they went ok.. ill get used to them i guess .

bench press.. i have no bench yet so i tried these from teh floor .. again went great :)

ALthough it said to just do set a or b .. its my days off work tomorrow so its my rest days.. so i decided to try all 5 today as i was planning on using no weights ad really just seing whats what etc
overhead press .. again went good.. till i watched the clips again and realised i wasnt doing them right lol .. ill get there in time.

Barbell rows .. again time will tell on this one, i think i was squatting too much on these after watching teh clips again after ..

All in all i think i will get used to all the lifts intended, as i grow and gain the confidence to up in weight as expected on the program, but for now im happy trying it out and working on my form..
ill pick up a bench and other stuff needed IF i can get used to this way of working out, but i will say.. i DIDNT HATE IT .. lol

2015 is off to a good start :)

From everything I have read about strong lifts 5x5, it starts easy. Don't worry though, that will soon change. If you want to do some cardio on your off days, I am sure it will be fine. Though a few months from now, I am sure you are going to need to use those off days to recover.

thanks for that .. i will keep up with the running on off days or alternative days till it gets too much.. lol
so i dont need to be doing any push ups/chin ups etc etc ? thats the confusing part..will i just need to keep up the stronglifts or keep on doing all the other stuff as well?

The weights start low because you progress quite rapidly at first.

On your non-lifting days, you can rest or do cardio.

I currently do Stronglifts Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I run most days, when I can. I've noticed that the further I progress in SL, the harder it is to run the day after lifting. When I have those days, I just walk, swim, or bike. (I personally feel better if I keep my body moving than taking a complete rest when I'm a bit sore/stiff.)

Stronglifts starts light so you can master form. As DvID said, It'll get tough
