Sugar vs Carbs, WTF is going on here.

Ok, this is crazy. I am trying to log my food on here just to get an idea of how I am doing, and where I am going over/under so I can better plan my meals. But, so far today I have already gone over (before lunch) on my allotted sugar - and I got it all from a bowl of cherries and a glass of pomegranate juice. I seem to still have plenty of carbs left, so I'm calling BS on this food diary thing-ama-jig! Following this thing, I wouldn't ever be allowed to eat fruit!

MFP gives low goals for sugar, but unless you have a medical reason to watch it, I would not stress it. I go over my sugar all of the time, but it is not a lot of added sugar. I think added and artificial stuff is what you should watch out for.0

Ignore the sugar, it gives you a low amount anyways.
Fruits are very very high in sugar, some will argue that it is 'good' sugar but I personally think of it all the same. Either raise your sugar amount in goal settings or change it to show something else if being over constantly bothers you. If it makes you feel better I consume 50 - 80g of sugar a day on average (Damn Starbucks).0 -
Go to your diary settings, you can choose which macros it tracks (up to 5). Don't bother with sugar, it's pointless.0

1) sugar is a carb, but it's not the only carb
2) the sugar recommendation is based on the American Heart Association's recommendation for ADDED/REFINED sugar due to a lot of people drink soda like it's water and eat **** tons of processed food that is loaded with high fructose corn syrup and added sugar. There is no formal recommendation for naturally occurring sugars in things like fruits, etc.
3) Unless you have a medical condition (i.e. diabetes, pre-diabetes, insulin resistant, etc) there really isn't a need to watch sugar. If you do have a medical condition you should get yourself referred to a dietitian.
4) Food diary thing-ama-jig is not bull ****...I've lost nearly 40 Lbs and counting with this "bull****"
Perhaps a bit of research on your part would help you understand this tool and how to use it properly. There's lots of information out there on the internetz in RE to proper nutrition, etc.0
