My husband and I have recently purchased a new weight bench and weights. I am needing to sit down and write down what my routine is going to be and at what weight I will use for each exercise. (Makes for easier transitioning for me.) Just curious, what does your workout routine consist of?

I walk our dog every day for about 30 minutes everyday. This has been the extent of my cardio. I will lift and do some ab workouts.

Your routine will depend on your goals. Training for strength is very different than training for physique. if you are just starting out I'd recommend a full-body, compound movements routine over doing isolation routines.

As for abs, be careful. Ab work is usually for strengthening your core, but if you start doing anything weighted you could begin building ab muscle which can make you look thicker. 'Getting abs' is about diet.

Just focus on getting stronger and conditioned to start.

New Rules for Lifting, StrongLifts 5x5, etc are good starter routines.

    Good luck.
