vivofit and MFP calorie IN/OUT question

I just got the vivofit and it does not sync calories IN/OUT with MFP. As this is a problem, I still need help figuring my calories. It seems on my vivofit that it shows me burning approximately 2000 calories on a day I do absolutely nothing. Then on a day that I work out pretty hard I only see an increase in calorie burn to about 2400 calories. I am trying to figure out how I can count these calories in and out by myself so I can have a better understanding of what I need to do to lose some weight. Here is a more detailed example of what I am talking about.

Day 1 - 5,000 steps and 2000 calories burned
Day 2 - 19,000 steps and 2400 calories burned

Does the vivofit only count your normal caloric burn without exercise?

So, if I use MFP to log my calories IN and then log my exercise plus the vivofit count I should be more accurate?

Please help me understand.

Thanks

    VivoFit includes your BMR.
So for day 1 - to lose 1lb per week the goal would be 1500 or 1750 for 1/2 a pound
    Day 2 - 1900 for 1lb per week or 2150 for 1/2 a pound

I would only log all that if you disconnect garmin from MFP. Then for the vivofit count, you would want to take VivoFit calories burned - (MFP estimate with exercise).

I'm currently having issues with Garmin Connect. My steps show up on the tile on my dashboard and my workouts show up under activities. My reports however show no calories burned, no distance traveled, and no calorie burns. So I'm kind of glad its not fully syncing with MFP. It does however transfer my workouts to my MFP exercise diary if I hit "Sync" to MFP on the Garmin Dashboard (PC).
