Never tried a diet before.

I`ve been meaning to get fit for 28 years but never really controlled my meals so never had any proper success. Most I ever lost was 14 pounds but it took over a year and a couple of marathons to get there and then 6 months to get the pounds back.
Does using a smaller plate really work - I had a shock this morning when I measured my usual breakfast cereal serving at 700 calories with milk. I`ve bought a smaller bowl to make it look full.
