So i had a mcdouble for the first time since starting to lose weight again (my father brought it to me) i ate it but something amazing happened. It made me feel gross! I know it sounds weird but because i used to love it it was hard for me to give up but now with feeling disgusting i don't have to worry about breaking for mcdonalds lol

Those taste buds they are a'changing0

Not uncommon . . . and now you know!0

Happens to me almost every time I eat crappy food ... my vice used to be Carl's Jr. Western Bacon Cheeseburgers. I ate one last summer on a road trip and BOY did I regret it.0

Mmmmm Mcdoubles are delicious!0
-
I like McDoubles, too. More for me!
But seriously, I noticed most things I used to eat by the truckload are no longer as delicious. Or, if I desire those things, I need far less of them to satisfy my tastes. Like the 2 pieces of cheesy bread I have waiting for me for a snack. I used to eat the whole 8 piece order (PLUS pizza). Nope, don't need or want that much any more (indigestion, no thank you).
And logging them shows me I can fit modest portion of the fun stuff once in a while. No regrets or guilt!0 -
I feel the same way about pop! I had one the other day and it was gross! I was addicted!!0

Just the smell of that place honestly turns my stomach. I haven't eaten there since I was a kid.0

Typically when we go highway driving around supper, McDonalds is the stop before leaving. We were traveling for new years eve - and OMG. I ordered 2 mcdoubles, small fries. I could hardly touch the fries (they seem so salty since I have stopped having mcd's on a weekly basis) and I could barely get down 1 of the burgers.
It was a rough drive afterwards.0 -
I like mcdonald's0

My local McDonald's is. 35 minute walk away and I only walk that way if I'm walking into and around town for shopping. Walking there, around town and back takes normally 3 hours so I get a good burn and don't feel so guilty if I have a mcd's :-)0

I can happily say that I have not eaten anything from mcdonalds for almost 3 years!0
-
Well done! In the long run you'll be so glad your tastes changed.0
-
Congrats, I guess? I personally see eating all the foods I enjoy as a victory, rather than eliminating things for arbitrary reasons.0

I go to Mcdonalds for their coffee. If I have anything else it's a late-night drunk run, and that doesn't happen very often.0

Where did she say she eliminated foods "for arbitrary reasons"?0 -
I think you should eat the food you enjoy in suitable proportion to your goals.
If you no longer like or enjoy McDonalds then more power to your arm. There's no law to say you have to like it or eat there. Well, until the Government pass "thou must eatest at McDonalds on pain of death" legislation. Damn guvernment. *shakes fist*0 -
I hardly ever eat mcdonalds (having my first one in months tonight) and I'm super looking forward to it. I do tend to love salty food though, so maybe that's why! I don't think I could ever feel disgusting after eating any kind of food (I LOVE FOOD) but it's great for you because now at least the temptation is gone0

Tell us how you enjoy it. You might be surprised.0 -
I know what you mean about the burgers. It's the salty taste that gets me, but the fattiness to a certain extent too. I LOVE their wraps however. And their salads. And their egg mcmuffins (although I usually ask them to replace the ham with tomato). I go to McDonalds lots still.0

I know what you mean, I have experienced this same thing with many, many foods I used to be able to eat a lot of. Good for you that your tastes are changing! I always like when I have these kinds of nsvs!0

It was 6 months after starting MFP before I went to McDonalds again. I too had a McDouble, what I once loved,as I sat there eating it I couldn't even imagine why I once liked it. It was so bland and yucky! I don't miss them at all anymore. I do however still love the sausage bisuit but that's all i think i like there anymore. If I want a fast food burger I do the little thick burgers at Hardees but they are a lot of calories so I don't go very often. But as silly as it sounds I feel free of the FAST FOOD addicition.0

On New year's eve my boyfriend was drinking and I was being good and volunteered to be the designated driver, .... On way home from celebrations he asked me to stop by the mccy d's drive thru and he ordered a large chips, two double cheese burgers and 20, yes, 20 chicken nuggets, I have to admit I was tempted for a split second, but I thought I couldn't have a bite and let myself down just before new year resolution! ... I resisted and now I feel fantastic about it!!

That's a positive!0

I get a similar deal with chocolate - but only the chocolate I used to eat when I was fat. At some point I realised "this tastes 'nice', but isn't worth being fat for".0
-
That's because it wasn't the Jalapeño double!! Lol, I get one of those once a week so I can make the suck in hiss sound (since I'm not that good with spicy food yet but love to try).

I had a weird reaction once...if anyone is familiar with imos pizza, the one by my house has a buffet...anyway I had been eating super clean for months and no cheat meals, went to buffet for my first cheat, was super excited. So I started chowing down, ten mins in I started sweating badly got dizzy and light headed...a few minutes later I ran to the bathroom and threw up...immediately felt normal again...just goes to show what these types of foods do to your body.it just adapts to protect itself when you eat it consistently0

Yup! Been there, done that. I barely eat the burgers and fries at McDonalds anymore - they taste so different now that I'm 43 pounds lighter. It's weird but cool at the same time. Now the ice cream on the other hand.....0

I had a pizza from my favourite local takeaway over Christmas and it tasted amazing, honestly the best pizza I'd ever had but the next day I felt gross, so I still love the taste but not the feeling afterwards and I think that feeling is enough to stop me from eating like that too often.0

Wow more responses then i had expected. I am probably going back especially cause their hot cakes and sausage mcmuffins are my favorite breakfast and i love the parfaits but no more burgers lol0
