Treadmill and Ellipitcal TV set and headphones

I enjoy using the treadmill and the elliptical machines at my gym. They have their own dedicated small tv sets so one can watch tv while working out, which helps pass the time. My question is this, it appears that I can only use a wired headset to connect to the tv for sound. Has anyone ever gotten a wireless headphone to connect to these tv's? Or, is there a way to connect the tv to my smartphone and then use my bluetooth headset? Thanks.

You can buy adapters that plug into a headphone jack and pair with bluetooth.
