Knee Problems

I have a torn meniscus and my knee is bone on bone. I am 44 with knees of an eighty year old according to my doctor. Sports will do it to you every time. Even though I have a torn meniscus my doctor does not believe that surgery will help my pain. I get cortisone shots and it manages the pain for about 5 months. Still have a lot of stiffness and popping of the knee. I am about to get a new shot that lubricates the knee to help with the bone on bone situation but in the meantime.. is there any exercises I can do that will not have me in a lot of pain? I cannot swim

Sure, lots of weight lifting available using arms, shoulders, back, chest, core, etc.0

Some gyms have "bikes" that you pedal with your hands. And like vorgas said, you can do upper body exercises.0

What kind of doctor? If it's not a Sports Medicine doctor I would suggest getting a second opinion and make sure the doctor knows how active you are because that would probably make a difference.0
