Women--Has diet/exercise affected your menstrual cycle?

Hi ladies!

Just curious to see if anyone has had their cycles affected by weight loss or exercise?

I've lost about 27 lbs. in the past 6 months by eating healthier and exercising more, and have noticed a few changes with my period coming days earlier, mid-cycle spotting, etc. I'm just wondering how common it is, or if I should make an appointment with my doctor for her opinion?

If anyone has info to share, please do!

I had this same issue. After a few months it leveled off, but it seems like every time I make either a dietary or fitness change, my cycle gets jacked up for a month or two. It did make cramps and PMS much smoother though. Estrogen is stored it fat cells, so maybe the shrinking fat cells have something to do with it?

I'm on the progesterone only pill and have been having problems with irregular bleeding anyway. But for the first month when I really upped my exercise I found I started to bleed ALL the time. A couple of months of serious exercise later and it seems to be starting to settle down a bit now and hope it stays that way!

Exercise and diet have helped my period in that when I'm horribly bloated, my pants aren't too tight. 8D I started changing my diet in conjunction with starting birth control, though, so I'm not sure if the other changes are attributed to weight loss or the pill.
