Dumbbells and a mat is my first thought. Maybe a bike stand for winter riding if you have a bike.

Yup. A set of quick adjustable dumbbells. Endless possibilities.

Mine has been a good DVD player. P90X, Insanity, all of 'em need a player/TV screen of some sort. Plus the boring winter 12-miler runs on the treadmill - pop in a movie, turn the volume up and zone out for an hour-and-a-half.

I would get a bike because it can carry you through most injuries. (Or a rowing machine but those are super expensive)

I vote door gym. They're not expensive, you can do multiple variations of pullups which work lots of muscles like your back, biceps, triceps, and forearm, plus you can get a killer ab workout by doing leg raises. Some people also use them for pushups and dips, but I'd rather just use the floor for pushups and chairs for dips. It also comes in handy on laundry day. I hang my clothes straight from the dryer on it so they don't get wrinkled, then take it upstairs with the clothes still hanging on it(which is a minor workout because clothes can be heavy LOL).

My next suggestion is something you probably already have... chairs. You can use them for dips, to make push ups harder, and probably other stuff.

The floor... seriously. I love my bodyweight workouts/callisthenics. There is loads you can do without any equipment at all.

After the floor the next best thing is a chair. Then a pullup bar.

Then a set of dumbbells. Then a bench.

    imo...

Check out Les Mills Pump. It's a Beach Body product and a great over all weights workout!!

A suspension trainer (like TRX). When you're done with it, it folds up into a bag the size of a kids shoe box.

A good pair of walking or running shoes (depending on your fitness level and preference)

The equipment you will use is the thing to have. For me, it is a bicycle.

Stationary bike. In 2 years, I put close to 6000 miles on that thing and watched more TV than I thought possible. It is a big part of my success.

Yep to the bolded. I only need a few household items and my body. Anything from cardio to strength training (I'm not "up" to pull ups just yet) can be done with literally nothing but our bodies.

I guess the only "real" equipment I need is a device that has internet capabilities (oh, you already have a computer w/ internet, GREAT! Get googling for a free program that sounds good to you! Get it!).
