Easy Fix to Mass Loss

The easiest fix to eating less calories is buying smaller plates, bowls and skinnier drinking glasses. Psychology is a powerful tool to mass loss and hacking our brains into believing the portion sizes are bigger with smaller plates actually works. Throw in some color contrast and before you know it the mass melts away without much effort.
Science to the rescue =)

I agree to some extent. I used to overeat on small plates, though. What I have discovered, and what works for me, is that I feel more satisfied with smaller amounts of really great food than large amounts of so-so food. Good quality food makes me feel that I value myself, that I am worth something. Not easy to describe or understand in a world of plenty.

I make my meal according to weighed portions long before they hit the plate, the plate is the last step after a planned and weighed cooking process...

I highly recommend "Mindless Eating", by Brian Wansink. It has many discussions of this type and was really an enlightening read.

I agree 100%. I haven't eaten off of a full-sized plate in years. the quality of the food is much more important than the quantity.

I very rarely go out to eat anymore, but if I do I still can't get over the fact that most entrees are served on plates the size of the platters I use to feed my family! It's crazy how far the portion-distortion thing has gotten out of hand.
