Question about a plan?

I'm trying to make a good plan that I'll stick to this time for weight loss. I know it's all up to me for the motivation part and I'm working on making it a discipline - lifestyle change - rather than a diet or something that needs motivation. That's going okay.
What I need help with is knowing what's a good plan to follow. I've read a lot of the posts in the forum over the last few years (yes, I'm one of those on and offers), but my wedding is coming up and I plan on doing it and want to do it right this time. Any help would be wonderful. Here's my info:
I will open up my diary, but I just started Monday so I'm not fully in my routine yet. My fiance just got her first adult job as well so we had subway yesterday to celebrate, so that;s not an every day thing.
Me: 23 years old, 225lbs, 5'6", avid soda drinker and tv-watcher, usually pretty sedentary, other than summer, my work is pretty much office - computer - chair.
GOAL: to weigh 140 by my wedding in September (this may be unrealistic, but it's worth a shot).
Food: My goal is to eat between 1400-1500 calories a day. Eggs in the morning (or oatmeal if I'm not feeling the eggs), protein bar and banana at lunch (because they're wonderful), a snack in the afternoon (possibly two because I eat lunch at noon and dinner around 7/8). And then a full dinner (usually meat and veggies or like chicken tacos or something). Snacks of homemade hummus, veggies, avocadoes, fruits, etc. Sodium at 1600 or less daily because I have high blood pressure.
Water: 16.5 cups a day (i've cut out soda completely. Once and a while I have tea or coffee, but not often.
Exercise: I'm so out of shape it's unreal. I got an elliptical and am starting to use it, but have to do it in increments of ten minutes at the moment - it's slow going. My plan - elliptical 6ish days a week (maybe 7 if I'm ambitious and not out of town) for about 30 minutes per day (45 minutes on weekends). Weight training (at home with a weight set or body) for ten minutes 3 times a week (to start).
Is this too much, too little? I don't really know what I'm doing, but I feel like this is right for me. Any opinions would be nice, but please be nice, we're all learning here.
Thanks guys!
