Hi, I'm not new to MyFitnessPal but haven't been on here for awhile. I lost a lot of weight in 2012 and still never made it to my actual goal, kind of struggled gaining and losing the same few pounds. Then I got pregnant with my daughter in 2013 and gained it all back plus some and I'm now trying to get back to my pre pregnancy weight on top of losing more to finally reach that goal I never met.0

My profile pic shows it. I started at 255. Got down to 205. went up to 265. got down to 220ish and still dropping. This within a 4-5 year period. It happens that is why people say to find something manageable for the rest of your time.0

If we lose focus, this almost always happens. It's tough but you really can't stop paying attention to what you're eating and how much exercise you're getting if you want to maintain your weight loss. If you go back to eating the way you did before you lost weight, and do it for long enough, you will regain weight. Often, you'll regain more than you lost. You should be very happy you caught it before all of your previous hard work was undone.
This is why it's recommended that you never get out of the habit of weighing yourself on a regular basis. Weekly weigh ins will help you catch the upward trend before it becomes an issue.0 -
In my case, I just started in earnest Jan 1. I can honestly say that I believe I can do it this time because I am measuring, weighing and recording all my food and have made time to exercise daily. But what hacks me off, is that with all of these healthy changes, I have several days of up and down weight, especially this morning when my weight jumped up 2 pounds! I have been under my calorie goal every day(1500,so actual calories have been around1300). I am wishing for true progress to show the work I have been putting into this.0

A 2 pound gain in one day is water. Was your sodium count yesterday very high?0

I know I am also fighting a med issue I gained 17 pounds in 2 weeks just because of it and I had to gain another 15 in another 2 weeks before my dr would change it. I think I cried the entire month. Sometimes I think of trying those pills to help lose weight.0

Before anyone gives advice I think you need to get a correct diagnose first. Also stress is a factor that can lend to weight gain.

Keep in mind that most of that weight is water, too. You simply can't gain that much fat so quickly. It takes an excess of 3500 calories in your diet to create a pound of fat. I highly doubt you've overeaten by 112,000 calories in a month. Those diet pills also don't work; save your money. If you're truly desperate, you might try an over the counter diuretic but I don't know how well those work, either. They never did that much for me.
I've had problems in the past where I've gained a lot of water in a short period of time. An example: In 2012, I gained 18 pounds in 4 days when I was in the hospital having my appendix out. I ate maybe 2000 calories from Tuesday night until Friday so it definitely wasn't fat. It took about 4 more days before the water was all gone and I'd lost a net of 4 pounds.
Cheer up! Once you get that issue cleared up, the water should flush out of your system.0
