Anyone else starving since they have started to workout again? How did you stop yourself from eating back all of your calories!?!? What works for you? Gum? Reading? Tape your mouth shut

I drink a bottle of water and then wait 15 minutes before I eat, if I do. At that point, I know if I'm really hungry or if I was just thirsty/bored/etc. I rarely eat my exercise calories back and I don't miss them.0

Good idea! Thanks0

If you're using MFP as intended, you are meant to eat back your exercise calories. You need to properly fuel your body for the extra work you are putting it through. Otherwise, you're not doing yourself any favors.0

Good point. I guess I should have worded that better. I find I'm still a bit hungry and out of calories .... And I'm not sure how to log weight training...0

Huge vegetable salads with measured amounts of light dressing. Saves my "bacon" every time.0

Then perhaps choose a less aggressive goal? For example, if you have it set to losing 2 lbs/week, scale it back to 1.5 lbs/week. You need to make sure you have an appropriate calorie goal for your size/age/activity level.0

I asked my doctor about eating back the calories. She told me that if you are hungry after working out then you are probably truly hungry and should have a snack, otherwise don't do it.0

Great..... Who said bacon I have been eating salad at lunch which is great - tastes good....it seems my dinner / evening is when I'm more hungry. I could look for a recipe for a low calorie dip with veggies at night. Thanks!!!0

Good call. My goal is very aggressive. Might need to start a bit slower so I don't get burned out or lose sight of my long term goal.

I started out having a protein shake after my weight training ...and I should likely keep doing that too. Otherwise I will just starve ...or eat really really unhealthy

Protein, protein, and MORE protein! I swim for exercise and some days I am so hungry I could eat a horse! It's weird though, because it isn't every time. If I look at my food choices I see the days I eat lots of protein I'm much less hungry.0
