I'm booked in for a "Bankart operation" in 12 days to (hopefully) fix a shoulder injury. The thought of not being able to train for weeks or even months is freaking me out.
I would be interested to hear from anyone who has had the procedure - how did it go? How long was your recuperation? How did you cope with the enforced inactivity? How much did your muscles atrophy? Anything else?

I had a SLAP and Bankart repair on 12/2/14 along with rotator cuff "shaving". Sling for 6 weeks. This is my first week out of the sling. Just this week I've started minimal exercise with a band. I've been doing a machine based leg routine and watching calories and weight. I'm trying to maintain my weight or even gain a pound or two a month. I was not mentally prepared for this recovery. The Bankart tear and rotator cuff damages were not revealed until slap survey, thus a longer rehab. I'm expecting to be able to safety squat in another 6 weeks or so. Hoping to be barbell pushing and pulling by 6 months post-op.0
