Hey Crossfitters...

How do you determine your workout input? I have been trying to break things down, but there is no KBS, Box jumps or Burpee button...

either log under cardio as strength training or log actual workout time (not rest, warmup, cooldown or instruction times) as circuit training

As a guideline for a 150 lb person, walking would be around 250 cal/hour whereas running a 5.5 minute/mile pace would be around 1200 cal/hour.

It's likely that most one hour Crossfit classes would be somewhere between those two numbers. I've gone back through my log and have estimated my Crossfit sessions, including warmup, strength, and workout of the day to have burned between 350 and 1200 calories, most being between 400 and 900, and a median number in the 500 calorie range.

On here I've been using "circuit training general", and adjusting the time between 45 and 60 minutes based on perceived intensity of that day's workout. It comes out to between 350 and 500 calories. I'm being conservative, but it's working for me.

I used circuit training up until I got my HRM. Now, if I wear my HRM I log exactly what it says, and if I don't, I estimate my exertion and log a conservative estimate based on prior HRM readings. I find that using circuit training for only the WOD would be a pretty close match.
