Hi all,
Help me in achieving my goal to lose weight! I'm trying to be a good husband and be there for my wife, but I end up sacrificing my workout routines and diet. Lots of take out or ordering in is occurring. Any tips besides trying to cook more at home?

Hello all,
Im 21 yo and starting back up in my workout routine. I gained weight and need to lose it. The only thing thats really holding me back I guess is the fact that everytime I walk into a gym I get people staring at me and its embarrassing and distracting. I just wish I can go without being profiled or thinking that I'm being judged in some way. idk maybe its in my head but its how i feel.
Any suggestions?0 -
Lol, I totally get it. I'm pregnant right now and my boyfriend is totally confused by my weird cravings and either very little appetite or i'm starving all day lol. if you have to skip your workouts for whatever reason, maybe try just going for a walk or something. even if its only 20 mins, every little bit helps. try encouraging your wife to go too! its good for both her and baby0

Have your wife do some light workouts too if she's up for it! It will give both of you an energy boost. Try cooking together.. plan healthy meals.. there are so many websites that have easy quick dinners! Good luck0

I'm pregnant right now.
Sometimes the cooking at home just isn't going to cut it. The smells wafting in the air in the house can be too much sometimes. I've been asking my husband to not put any seasonings on anything besides salt and pepper. I know that's not going to make it tasty for you, but it might be all she can handle.
Is she the one wanting takeout foods? If so, have you asked her why she's craving that? Maybe she just wants something greasy or fatty. If that's the case and you don't want to sacrifice your diet, the best advice I can give you is just to make better choices at the takeout places for yourself. Almost every place has salad on the menu now, and while that may not help your macros, it will at least keep your calories in check.0 -
Oh, and another question, can you elaborate on why you're having to sacrifice workouts? I don't really understand this one unless she's placing a lot of demands on you. My husband has continued working out the duration of my pregnancy.0

exactly. i'm pregnant right now and i either have no appetite or i'm so hungry and have weird cravings and am eating a lot. the other day i was craving fish and chips from this place me and my hubby go to sometimes. I told him i wanted it and if he either wanted to share it with me or if he wanted me to order him something else. he said, nah. so if she is craving something from somewhere, because i also get that cooking at home sometimes isn't gonna work lol, maybe try ordering something on the healthy side for yourself. that way she can still satisfy her cravings and you don't have to feel like you are not sticking to your daily calorie goal.

Hi all. Yes I should look into the lower calorie diets; sounds easy for obvious reasons but I succumb to what my wife is getting LOL
I have been sacrificing my workouts by being out of my routine. We are both in education and get home around 4pm. By 4:30 she wants to have dinner and that's usually when I would hit the gym or throw in a dvd to workout to. By eating dinner around 5 I feel too full or tired to then workout at anytime after 7pm.0 -

See my above post0 -
Took me 17 years to the weight from my wife's pregnancies.
Don't let that happen to you.
Cooking more at home is usually a better solution. Cook en mass and freeze portions for later use.
Restaurant food always has more salt and other junk you don't want.0 -

suck it up butter cup and eat later- or go workout after you eat. It sucks- but it's gotta be done.
Or get up early and work out on your own.0 -

I get your wife on this one. Hunger comes to us in a hurry when we're pregnant, and I'm always ready to eat when I get home at 4:30pm as well. Maybe you can talk to her about having a snack to possibly hold her over until your normal dinnertime.
Otherwise, I don't have any suggestions for the workouts other than to adjust and overcome. Have you thought about getting up early and getting the workout in before your day starts?0 -

I have thought about getting up early... And this sounds EXTREMELY lazy but I just enjoy a good night's sleep.
Strategy I am going with forward is to prepare healthy breakfast and lunch night before for the next day. Shall thaw out meat and/or poultry each night before for dinner the next day. If we happen to eat out, healthy choices will have to be selected regardless of how the other stuff sounds and looks. In terms of exercise, just have to find a schedule and exercises that work best. Weekends are easy but just have to develop a plan for work days. Thanks everybody... You rock!0
