Food for thought

Just some thoughts, nothing up for debate

It sure was hard getting back on track after my mother passed in November... then through the services, holidays, etc. I didn't over do it but ate more take out, heavy meals and sugars (feel good foods), than I normally do. I am finally feeling back to normal! I've been doing my regular workouts again (daily) and highly intense and am weighing, measuring and logging again. My body seemed to bounce right back fairly quickly and I actually feel stronger than ever now that my body has something to work with. I am in a new fitness challenge and that feels excellent. My goals, while a little unrealistic are definitely attainable. I'll hit my challenge number and see how long I can maintain.

My trainer was talking about "diets" the other day and commented that for a lot of people it's all or nothing. Like, some people go Paleo or do the 4 hour body or no carb and it's all or nothing and if they have one day where they fall off track they just give up. I feel like it's perfectly OK to modify... I do a modified Paleo diet, in other words 90% of my diet is lean (some grass fed) protein, veggies, nuts/seeds, etc. But I still like to eat a healthy Greek yogurt for a quick protein snack and every now and then I have more fruit than a regular Paleo person would. I also stick to low or no fat products when I can and yup I love bacon.... turkey bacon. It's just what works for me.

My lowest weight was 112.9 with unhealthy body fat percentage. At 5'5" it was unreasonable to think I could maintain that number for the long term. But I got there and felt good about it, then slowly built myself back up to a healthy range. My challenge number this time around is 115 with a drop dead athlete level body fat percentage. I'll get there. This time around I am doing things differently... I'm not weighing myself on a scale I am only going by percentages and measurements. At the end of the challenge I'll get on the scale. Measurements seem more reliable since I am losing weight and toning down but building muscle at the same time.

I've also been doing more strength vs. cardio. I am still a cardio junkie but it's because I love to dance  I've found that wavemaster kickboxing w/turbo jam gives me both strength and cardio so it's my new addiction. I'm still legit boxing as well and (tooting my own horn) I have a vicious hook and a mean roundhouse! haha

Anyway... just getting some thoughts out here.

You can do this!
