Bread, fat, sugar....does it really matter?

Doesn't it just come down to calories in/calories out? The first 30 pounds came off rather easily....and I wasn't eating any fat or bread. I have recently added bread back in and my weight loss has stalled. What is your experience?

When you eat more carbs your body retains more water. That's why I never cut out any food groups to start with, because if I did and then added them back in, it would change the balance.

As far as fat gain/loss, yes it's about calories. But weight is more than just fat, and as noted above, carbs can cause water weight gain. How much varies from person to person.

The main one for me is alcohol. It always seems to add the pounds faster than it should for the calories. :-)

I agree with you on that. I stopped drinking alcohol for 5 months and lost the 30 pounds. Then, over the holidays, I had a few drinks but nothing major. I gained 4 pounds. :(

Weight loss naturally slows down when you are closer to your goal weight. Probably for the most part a coincidence with your reintroduction of bread. It's what you said, calories in/out.
