Burning fat...

I posted this a while ago but no one responded and I'm back at it again... I was in a competition/program of sorts. I got weighed every week and got my body fat percentage. I lost 7 pounds but no body fat! That can't be good. Why is that and what are the best ways to lose body fat?

what was the method for measuring body fat percentage? how long did the program last? did you use any crash diets in order to lose the weight?

You lose fat from being in a deficit.

You are losing weight because you are eating at a deficit.
Are you doing weight bearing exercises to retain your LBM and improve your BF%?

Did your body fat percentage stay the same? Because if it did, yeah, you lost some fat--20% of X is more than 20% of x-7.

Oh ok yea the percentage stayed the same. I was working out like mad, drinking more water and eating less... i was doing more cardio than weights, as opposed to days gone by when i would focus on weights, because i was told cardio is the key to losing...

The key to losing is calorie deficit, not cardio.

Measured with one of those machines you stand with it straight in front of you with the handles on the side?

You may as well measure with a roulette wheel ... they're nearly as accurate. The electrical impedance machines you hold out are not reliable. Grip pressure, bend in the arm, hydration levels, moisture on your hands, etc can create a variance in its readings.
