A few questions about expiration dates on labels- tofu + rice milk

Fridge has gotten wicked cluttered recently and I noticed some of the expiration dates have passed. I hate wasting food and tossing unopened packages. Are the expiration dates strict or is there room for some wiggle room? I have a package of unopened extra firm tofu and a carton of unopened rice milk. Thank you!

It depends on the food. I have had milk go bad a couple of days BEFORE the expiration date. I have eaten eggs several MONTHS past the expiration and they were perfectly fine.
I just use the sniff test. If it doesn't smell bad, give it a tiny taste. It will most likely be obvious if it is bad. My guess would be the rice milk is most likely okay if unopened. Not sure about tofu.0 -
I found this site a few weeks ago. I've found it very useful. I was making the mistake of putting potatoes in the fridge. Hope this helps.
