Slept in, now way behind on calories...

I slept in till lunchtime today because my sleep routine is way out of whack, but as a result I didn't have breakfast. Now my total calories for the day are only at 900cal, and it's getting near to bed time. Thing is, I don't feel hungry, and I don't really want to just eat for the sake of getting my numbers to 1200cal. I haven't been active at all today. Any advice? Should I eat more to up my calories or just leave things the way they are? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I think you're fine. While you slept your body didn't burn nearly as much calories as if you were awake. There's no point to make up calories, especially if you don't feel hungry.

This happens to me once in a blue moon. Unless it's happening a couple times a week or something, I don't see the sense in stuffing if you are just not hungry.

Thanks guys! Just didn't want to end up in 'starvation mode' (given the warning MFP gives you when you drop below 1200cal)

    Starvation mode is a myth.

You can easily get 300 calories in with a serving of peanut butter and an apple; no need to eat a full meal!

Okay, but what is the advantage of eating those 300 calories?

You only eat a total of 900 calories a day?

No, I think she was saying that was what happened for just today.

No, my calorie goal for the day is 1,640cal. The 900 calories are what I have eaten so far today x

You're logging a healthy amount to sustain your body.
Just because starvation mode is a myth, doesn't mean that your body still doesn't need calories to function.

Thank you for the feedback guys - I ended up having some unsweetened Greek yogurt and blueberries and left it at that :)

Sounds good, and I don't like Greek yogurt!

It happens to me once in a while and I use it to justify a treat the next day. I'm a firm believer in not eating calories just to get your number up.
