Saggy skin

Has anyone lost lot of weight & dealing with saggy skin? I'm 48 & have lost 100lbs. I'm just thinking I'm too old for any of it to bounce back. Anyone dealing with this & any tips?

While you're waiting for replies, do a quick search. There's been quite a few threads lately regarding this issue.0

Loose skin will improve in appearance over the next year or so. I'm using the Palmer's coco butter, in hopes it will help. I've heard exfoliating works. I've also learned on the forums that fingers will get fatter after a year on maintenance, so don't worry too much about where everything is until your new body has a chance to settle out.
Great job on the weight loss (*)0 -
It depends on your genetics, how stretched out your skin has become and how fast you lost your weight. I was young when I lost all of my weight, but I had crappy elasticity and tons of stretch marks. So after I lost 85 pounds, my skin would not bounce back. I ended up getting a tummy tuck and I am so happy I did it. Good work on losing 100 pounds, that is incredible!!0

After massive weight loss and a certain age, it just is what it is. You can do all the conditioning to make the skin softer, which is good, but the excessive sag, it most likely will not spring back. I have lost 190lbs over a long period of time, very proud of it, but I too have the same, excessive skin. For folks such as myself, the only alternative is plastic surgery to remove.0

I hear you.
I have medical issues that might preclude surgery – plus the whole age thing. It isn’t like I was pregnant and only carried the weight for 9 months – it had been years. So only a little bounce-back was anticipated.” I still have another 10-20 pounds to go.
My plan at present is to work on increasing muscle while maintaining my new lower body fat percentage. To be honest, it isn’t “as bad” as I thought it might be – but that doesn’t mean I like it.
I figure it will take a solid year of aggressive strength-training to know what I am left with…
Wish you the best – feel free to add, if you’d like.

I'm also using bio oil and started exfoliating everyday during weight loss. I take grape seed extract which supposedly helps with collagen production. I started all of this at the same I started losing weight, so can't say if my results would have been different without it.0

Congrats and No, I have no help. I am down 80 pounds and it's already gross. I have 35-45 to go and shudder at how I will look when I'm done.
I am NOT a fan of elective surgery and doubt that I'll do it, but I've toyed with the idea.
Wish I had more help.
Someone said recently that they credit tanning with the fact that they haven't had loose skin. I've thought that before and am eager to see if this summer brings any benefits. I didn't have much when I was tanning a lot, but I also hadn't lost as much. I'm going to start lying out as soon as the weather allows.
Personally, I will consider the special brushes and creams to be a bunch of malarkey and will not be heading anyone my money for such a thing.0 -
How can tanning help with loose skin? Does this include fake tans, or sun tanning?0

I'm probably going to get cosmetic surgery at some point, though it has improved a lot.0

Tanning will not help. UV rays destroy the elastic fibers in your skin, so it will be bronze, but it will be saggier!0

I have to get my sunshine, anyway, so I incorporate walking and swimming into it. I'd be lying out, either way. I'm just eager to see the results, which I'm pretty confident will be "no difference" as far as loose skin goes.

Last year when I lost 30lbs in 3 months and I was mortified at my turkey neck and chest area in general; I didn't care about other places because I know I can hide it. I'm 43 and tanned a ton in the 80's, you know, baby oil and Crisco, why oh why. Anyway, yeah unless you want to get surgery it is what it is. I'm trying to lose slower now so I can adjust better. Take note younger ladies, wear sunscreen everyday on your face, neck and hands.0
