How many calories do you burn in your average gym session

Question in the title really? I don't have time to do more than an hour in the gym 3-4 times a week.

According to the machines I am burning 200 calories in an hour. This is based on 40 minutes on the cross trainer (effort level 4) and 20 minutes on the running machine - but I walk - on an incline of 4% and speed of 3.5mph.

    Between 200 and 400 depending on how much cardio vs weight training I do.

    Yesterday I burned 500 calories. I ran a 5K (3.10 miles) on the treadmill. That took about 34 minutes. I then went and hit weights. Three sets each of barbell squats, leg curl machine, laying leg curl machine, leg extension machine, and abductor machine.

    Typically around 850. I swim laps for an hour (600 calories), then do 45 minutes in a water aerobics class (250 calories)

    I log 170 for 60 minutes of lifting.

    It's really going to come down to gender, weight, and effort. Everyone's I'd going to be different depending on those three variables.

    On the low end, usually an hour of weight lifting with 2 min breaks between sets, I'll burn 400/hr. On the high end, treadmill or running outside at 7-8min miles, 1000/hr.

  • Also- it's important to look up the machine (on the internet) and adjust for your weight.

    I use three machines:
    Treadmill (11.5% incline @3.4 mph) machine says 555 for ~40 minutes
    Stairmaster Stepper (this one asks me for my weight) 140 cals for 20 minutes
    Rower (5000 meter program) 253 calories for ~30 minutes

    Taken at face value, my daily total is ~950 cals. After I looked up each item and adjusted for my weight: a more accurate total is 728. Better than 25% difference. :{

    I take classes, so I usually burn anywhere from 450-650 in 1 hr depending on the class and how much effort I put in that day. I take Jazzercise, Zumba, Spinning, HIIT classes. It all depends on your weight and intensity.

    I just use the machine information, but 200-300 for 30-40 minutes, usually. You'll burn fewer calories the lighter you are.

    I run anywhere between 3 and 6 miles. I estimate 70 calories per mile running a 9 minute mile.
