Raw or cooked weight added

Hi all

I was wondering when weighing food and adding to the calorie count are we meant to weigh the dry/raw ingredient or cooked? I.e pasta. I have been weighing the cooked version but this question has been bugging me for ages!!!

    Check the package or database for a cooked entry if that is how you choose to weigh it.

    I measure after i cook, because oatmeal for example if i cook a cup of dry in water then its to much for me when its cooked then I can only eat half a cup. I was told that the calorie count is the same whether you measure dry or cooked. For me i like to be on the safe side and still measure after I cook.

    But surely, if you weigh after cooking your oatmeal, the water content could be very different. If you weigh before cooking you can be certain of the calories in the pan, and then you can eat it over the course of time.
