I used my heartrate monitor to compare the 2. With boxercise I burn more than twice as many calories over the same period as with swimming. The problem with swimming is I dont do it well lol so i never get my heartrate up high enough to burn a lot of calories.

Swimming. Swimming is the best exercise there is and swimmers are the best people in the world.
This is not at all biased by the fact I am a swimmer. Nope, nope, nope.
(Seriously? The very best exercise in the world is the one you will do on a regular basis and work on consistently. Both of those workouts get the heart rate up and give pretty much full body workout, so do the one you can see yourself doing for the next five years)0 -

My thoughts exactly. Why limit yourself to one type of exercise? Instead, do several to build a broader fitness.

Both! I like variety! And 'getting in shape' is a vague term....do you mean building cardio strength? Both are okay format (though swimming might push you more). If you want to work on other aspects of being in shape (muscle strength, flexibility, running speed, balance/coordination, etc.) then you might need to diversify more.0
