Hey guys what's up?
I am looking to put on some muscle, but I am worried about gaining fat as well. How would I go about gaining a little muscle without the fat? Is bulking necessary in order do get the result I am looking for?
Thanks for the help!

Bulking isn't necessary. You could do a slow recomp. Eat at maintenance and lift heavy. That being said, that can be a VERY slow process.
If you are going to do a legit clean bulk, you will inevitably put on some fat. That's just part of the game. The amount of your surplus will have the most effect on fat gain.0 -
To build muscle you need excess calories, exception being newbie gains but I don't know much about that.0

if you want to go safest route possible aim for .5 pound per week gain ..
OR
you can lose about five more pounds and then do the bulk with .5 pound per week gain ..
OR
you can do the recomp but like Hornsby said that is a VERY slow process...
if was me, I would go with either 1 or 2 ...0
