Any advice on pinched nerve?

I am on a roller derby team and do crossfit. About a month ago during a roller derby practice I took a nasty fall. A skate right in the butt lol. Every since then when ever I exercise I get a pain that goes up the back of leg till my lower back. I've been to the doctor and they are pretty sure it's a pinched nerve. I've never had a pinched nerve before so I'm wondering if anyone can give me suggestions on how to make it get better faster. I know they major one is rest but any other suggestions? Thanks!

It sounds like your sciatic (sp) nerve. Have you been to a chiropractor? They really help move things off the nerves. Also icing it and taking some anti-inflamtories will help.

    Go see a specialist.

If it sciatica, then there's quite a bit you can do to help. But first thing first, specialist. Go see a physiotherapist and see what they say.

+1 on the physiotherapist. Sounds like something's putting pressure on the sciatic nerve. Might be an inflamed muscle or hematoma from the injury. Often foam rolling (either with a regular roller or a tennis ball) the right spots in the gluteal area will take the pressure off the nerve. But it helps to have an expert pinpoint what to hit.

specialist- physical therapy might be in order- but a big one will be REST.

Seriously- it sucks- but it took me almost 3 months to recover from my pinched nerve in my shoulder/neck.
