does anyone know anything or any good research that has been done on candida overgrowth and any resources that will help correct it? from what I am reading all the solutions appear to be pretty severe, FBT, removing milk, sugars, fruits, carbs from you diet to kill it off, etc any input would be great.

Try the probiotics specifically made to help candida. We have a product here called candex. Incorporate coconut oil into your diet. Also have a few drops of oil of oregano everyday.
Yes, the candida diet is very very restrictive. I'd find it near impossible to follow.0 -
Do you KNOW you have overgrowth - as in, seen a doctor about it? I just ask because sometimes people assume when they are having stomach problems but don't know for sure. It could be a number of things.
If you know for sure, and you are having a lot of problems, do yourself a favor and follow the restrictive diet to the letter for a while. It will suck for now, but will be totally worth it in the long run.
If you've been to a doctor, they may have prescribed you some antifungal medication to get you started. It's really hard to look up info online because a lot of myths on candida spread and become "facts" easily enough. My best advice is go to a doctor and see what they want you to do. Whatever they say, whatever diet restrictions they give you, whatever medications or probiotics they want you to take, do it all. If you aren't 100% consistent it will never really clear up and you'll be miserable for a long time.0 -
What worked for me was homemade probiotics. I make my own kefir from milk.0

I would caution here to find a doctor specializing in candida. I've suffered for most of my adult life with candidiasis overgrowth, and yes, it was confirmed by a doctor, but he knew very little about how to combat it long-term, and simply prescribed me diflucan once a week for 12 weeks. Those twelve weeks were great, but without the diet change, the Candida flared back up within weeks.
I recommend The Ultimate Candida Diet--I finally got fed up with the constant barrage of yeast infections and decided to cut out all carbs, yeast products (Brewers and bakers), caffeine, alcohol, & most importantly, sugar and sugar alcohols.
Yes, it's very, very restrictive. But it is the only thing I have found to prevent my symptoms. I even tried a regimen of probiotics, caprylic acid, garlic, and oregano pills. But without the restrictive diet, I just smelled like a lasagna.
Good luck! Oh, one last word: the yeast die-off symptoms are killer. I took the advice of The Ultimate Candida Diet and did a fast while consuming fiber and liquid bentonite clay to help absorb the toxins from the dying Candida cells, and it improved that phase vastly! I hardly had any grumpiness or fatigue. I did suffer a whopping headache for a week from cutting caffeine, but a gradual weening would have prevented that.
Do the diet. It's worth the relief.
