Working part time nights- food journal all whacky?

Anyone have experience charting food etc while working occasional overnights?
I mean...my food looks nutty bc im sleeping one day then eating all my calories at night then go home, sleep a couple hours and eat "normal" during the day when I'm off... so some days it looks like I'm eating double calories where my days overlap if that makes sense...and some day's it looks like I'm only eating 100-200 calories because my "day" doesn't start until the evening when I get up and have breakfast...? Im sure it all balances out, right? It just looks strange?

I would just worry about your weekly calories if your daily routine has to be very irregular. Or you could adjust the mealtimes/names in your diary if that helps you to keep track better within a 24 hour period. Your body doesn't know when midnight is, days are an artificial creation as far as it's concerned, so I wouldn't worry if you eat more on Tuesday than you do Wednesday, for example.

I'd be tempted to just time-shift the meals for the "day" you work nights and still enter your first meal as "breakfast" et c.
