I am new to fitness pal. I have been staying under my 1200 calories and eating lots of fruits and veggies. I have been weighing myself every morning and this am I had gained .2 lbs from yesterday. I felt defeated after doing everything right but I am sure that it is normal....advice?

    Hi there Erin,
I have moved your post to 'Getting Started', in this section you are much more likely to get the advice and support you are seeking.

    All the best,

1200 calories is the minimum you should be netting if following MFP

weight on the scale has nothing to do with fat loss, water weight can mask a whole lot and regularly fluctuates by up to 5lbs due to increased exercise, increased sodium in diet, hormonal fluctuations ..

as you're just starting try not to weigh daily - and always weigh same time and circumstances eg morning, after bathroom and nekkid

Read the guide to sexypants, pinned at the top

weigh and log your food - all your food, including fruits and veggies
eat back 50-75% of MFP exercise calories

.2 pounds is the equivalent of about a 1/3-1/2 cup of water. If you visit the ladies room again, it's gone. Im sure you put something in your body at some point yesterday - you gotta remember that your body is a living fluctuating organism. .2 is NOT the freakout point. 2.0 is the freakout point.

for as long as you are committed to this, you can't forget that ok?

no freaking out over a few tablespoons of water.

Yes, it's normal. Weight can easily fluctuation by ~5lbs day to day based on a variety of factors. Try to worry more about long term trends in weight rather than short term changes.
