Ring size - Quick question

Correct me if I'm wrong but you can go by your clothing size to determine your ring size right?

For example, if I wear a size 6 then that would be my ring size.

Nope. That's something I have never heard... but it is definitely wrong. My pants are a 00 and my ring size is 3.

I wore a size 5.5 ring at 307 lb in size 22/24 clothing.

Now my ring size is a very loose 4 (3.75? Is that a thing?) and I wear 10/12 clothing.

I have a friend who is a size 5 and wears a 7 ring. Size 10 friend with size 10 ring but feels her fingers are very unusually thick.

Thanks ladies. I want to purchase a ring online and was thinking I could estimate the size.

I think I'll go to a jewelry store to have my ring finger sized to be sure.
