I had flu and had a normal appetite - coping with being a constant snacker

I had flu for two weeks and lost my appetite. Although I felt really ill, I felt so liberated that I was completely not interested in food. Then when my appetite first came back, I could eat a slice of cake and feel full, then not want anything else.
It makes me realise that there is something wrong with my "appetite regulation", maybe I'm normal and the rest of the world are better in tune with themselves than me, but that absolute iteration from not wanting food all the time, I wonder of there a way of having that without being ill. I don;t say ill this flippantly, of course I wouldn't want to be ill but the side effect of it meant I wasn't thinking/desiring food. If only I could find a healthy way of replicating this.
