Should I wait for the new FitBit?

I want to update from my Polar strap hrm to one of the no-strap kinds. I'm between the Mio Fuse, which seems good but isn't attractive enough to wear all day, and just waiting for the full release of the Charge HR, which looks great for the same price.

But they haven't announced even the month of full release! I'm at a point where a new gadget will really give me the extra motivation with my training (once in a while it's replacing my running shoes, new pants....I just know that the prospect of wasted money encourage me). Should I really just wait? It could be months past my weight loss goal by the time it's released.

It was released last week, during CES 2015. I am hoping to get one soon from BestBuy. (Gift card for Xmas). It's currently available from the Fitbit site as well. Target.com has limited availability. Walmart.com shows it available in their stores.

No chest strap - That would be great! What's it called? I have a Polar FT7 right now.
  • OH wow thanks, I'll have to check out Walmart. Most of my local stores have it listed online but unavailable for purchase...go figure.

The two I'm considering are the MIO Fuse, or the Charge HR from Fitbit!

Just got my Fitbit Charge HR tonight! Love it so far!
  • Hey, how are you feeling about it now? I've seen pretty iffy reviews, so I'm about to go for a Garmin Vivofit instead, but still have my ears open!

I love it. It pretty much completely automates the counting burned calories process.

As for accuracy, it seems right on with what the gym equipment says. People with chest straps say they are similarly accurate.

    My two main beefs...

    1. Come on fitbit. It is a $150 fitness product. Make the Damn thing waterproof.

    2. I love the caller ID feature... But I wish I't worked for texts too.

    Maybe the next version.
  • UPDATE: Got a Vivosmart. LOVE it.
