I bought the books New Rules of Lifting for Women and The Women's Health Big Book of Exercises. I highly recommend them.

Start off light. Don't try to lift more weight than you are capable of. When people do this, they lack proper form and increase their risk of injury.

With that being said, focus on form- not weight.

Also pay attention to your breathing! Don't hold your breath.

Take a rest day. Your muscles need time to recover.

    Utilize a proven beginner program.

    Perform it consistently.

    Perfect your technique.

Keep your macros in reasonable proportions.

Eat a reasonable amount of calories pertaining to your goals.

    That's about all you need.
  • Thanks I'll look out for those books and I've been starting with body weight type workout with 8-10 lb weights nothin too crazy definitely don't want an injury lol. I keep reading about adding cardio in and some people don't bother with it what have you found that works. I like to do a little running before like 15-20 minutes with that hinder the lifting part?
  • Thanks @DopeItUp‌ I need to find a beginner program then I will stick with I've been doing a few different ones.

Don't program hop. Pick a beginner program and do it for a year. If you want to get strong do Starting Strength.
