Do I eat too many snacks?

Hi everyone. I'm Annette. I have a desk job and I find the best way to curb my hunger so I don't grab something bad from the vending machine is to snack all day. I really do snack all day. carrots, cucumbers, salad, cream of wheat...My question is, is it too much? I eat a sensible breakfast and lunch and dinner but my snack list is soooooo long! BUT it isn't a gazillion calories. I think I've lost some weight since my last weigh in on Sunday but it is probably just water weight. I'm hoping that my crazed snacking doesn't prevent me from losing weight. It is partially a nervous habit of mine, needed to eat something, to chew. Gum only makes it worse. I have a 20 oz. tumbler that I constantly refill all day and I usually have some sort of metamucil which keeps me feeling satisfied also.

If you are hitting your calorie and macro goals, then you aren't having too many snacks. If you are going over on your calories goal, you are having too many snacks.0

I don't think it's possible to snack too much as long as you are not eating too much in general, and are getting proper nutrition.
Whether you eat all your food at once, or in tiny bits throughout the day, or something in between, it's the sum total of that food that matters.*
*unless you have a medical need to eat at certain intervals.0 -
It doesn't matter...what matters is hitting your calorie goals and macro goals (if those are important to you). If you are achieving your calorie goals then you are not snacking too much....if you are overshooting your calorie goals then you are over eating. It's all very simple...calories in, calories out. Don't overcomplicate things.0

I have a desk job too. Long hours sometimes. I have 3 meals and also snack in between. Keeps hunger away. It works for me.0

If all you eat is vegetables all day long (no grains or anything else seriously), it would be very very hard to eat more calories than you need. Even if you threw in some starch veggies. When I suggest people eat more this is what I am talking about, eating foods with high volume low calories. It works. I say keep snacking on cucumbers.
ETA. I don't suggest eating just veggies. I am just saying these kinds of foods aren't going to put you over on calories. It's the starchy foods, your protein sources, and fat that has the calories those are pretty easy to go over with.0 -
Show me someone who got fat eating cucumbers. I need a good laugh.0

Thank you everyone for your input. I am still under my calorie goals at the end of the day, despite all the food I'm eating during the day. I am a type 2 diabetic so I get weird(er) if I don't eat pretty regularly. I don't only eat veggies. I have protein like a bit of canned tuna on a small low carb tortilla or a package of healthy grain cream of wheat or carrots with peanut butter. What I haven't been eating, and what I miss is fruit. The fruit is just too sweet. I confess I need to do my homework because I just chose a caloric goal without doing the math to see if that was what I needed. I just set it to 1200. I'm going to search out some threads with info on macros and stuff so I know what I'm doing.
Thanks for sharing your advice!0
