Trying to "AVOID the BINGE...binge...binge...binge..."

I am trying a new technique to help "AVOID the BINGE...binge...binge...binge..."

I don't keep these foods at home. I am too crampy and feel too icky to go to the store. I went on yummy.com because I thought...F-it! I'm going to order these things and they will deliver them and I will eat them because I have my period, and damn it, I'm irritable and I deserve it! And I didn't work out yesterday and I'm not working out today. I feel bad - I'm allowed! ERG!

So I put like $250 worth of stuff in my cart. Then I saved that list. Then I narrowed it down to about $50 worth because - well that's reasonable ($51.08 to be exact) Then I went into MFP and put in each of the items and how much of them I would eat. It looks like this:

Chevre - Silver Goat - Chevre Goat Cheese, 5.5 oz. 275 22 33 11 0 825
Blue Diamond Almond Nut Thins - Wheat and Gluten Free, 1 container (64 crackers (30g) ea.) 520 12 10 92 4 460
Ice Cream Topping Hot Fudge - Smuckers, 0.5 container (18 tbsp (39g) ea.) 585 9 20 99 2 225
Sam's Club - Two Layer Carrot Cake, 5.4 oz. (153) g 540 6 34 49 2 440
Generic - Pretzel Bread, 1 Roll, 1 roll 90 2 2 15 0 0
Stone Ground Bakery - Rustic Sourdough Artisan Roll, 1 Roll 180 6 0 38 2 410
Anheuser-Busch - Budweiser, 48 floz 580 5 0 42 0 80
Ben and Jerry - Chunky Monkey, 0.5 container (2 cups ea.) 580 8 34 64 2 60
Cookies - Brownies, 2 square, large (2-3/4" sq x 7/8") 454 5 18 72 2 349

TOTAL Calories 3,804 Protein 75 Fat 151 Carbs 482 Fiber 14 Sodium 2,849

So that basically = 1 LB. :explode:

Is it worth it? It takes me forever to lose 1 LB. I also haven't worked out. I've also been trying to eat well (even today) to avoid binge eating so I've already consumed about 800 good, balanced calories.

BUT - it is only 2:20pm PST. Can I last?

Honestly, my 2 guy roommates get home around 6pm. I would be too embarrassed to order once they are home.

Again, I ask, can I last??

I had a bad eat food yesterday (for me) I logged it and moved on.

Keep holding strong... you know you can do this. Drink some water and do something to take your mind off of food.

Seriously its not worth it.. STEP AWAY FROM THE SHOPPING CART !!!

Do you have yogurt or anything a little healthier that you can maybe add some fruit or granola to??

I to have the hardest time losing weight, I don't like to give up my french fries and bacon cheeseburgers that call my name on almost a daily basis. but that is a lot of calories !! What I always do is, sit and think is it worth it, am I going to enjoy it that much to make it worth it..

Most of the time its not.. I just had double chocolate chip muffins in my house last week, 6 of them, and you know what after the first one, all 629 calories of it, and it lasting only a max of 10 minutes of savory goodness. I sat back and realized it was not worth the 620 calories and 36 grams of fat.. just not all that great..

you can do this, try munching on something a little smaller and something sweet but not totally overboard. you will be find..:flowerforyou:

    Thanks you guys!

THANK YOU FOR THE SUPPORT

I have plenty of healthy food. It just hasn't been cutting it. It's TOM...that SOB...has got me extra emotional with sweet and salty cravings. Plus, with being heartbroken, I keep craving beer.

But since writing it all out and looking at the damage on paper (screen)...I agree it's not worth it...so I'm optimistic.

BTW...I never have granola...too tempting to eat and too many calories for me :)

    I keep repeating:

"Nothing tastes as good as being thin feels!"
"A moment on the lips, a lifetime on the hips!"

I am the same way sometimes. Neither my husband or my niece who lives with us eats really healthy and there is always something in the house that might tempt me but I have found that putting it in MFP ahead of time really shines the light on things.

Also if you are REALLY craving something sometimes you just need to have it and then start again the next day. Yesterday I was just HUNGRY so I ate until I wasn't hungry. It didn't put me over a ridiculous amount but it did put me over. Today is a new day and I realize that there is like 1 day a month (sometimes more) where I just want to eat and I have to allow myself to do that otherwise I would go INSANE.

Could you maybe go for a walk to get out of the house? Get a little exercise in and maybe take your mind of of the food?

Great idea - typing what you want to eat into MFP! I'll try this next time I really want to binge due to TOM - which is this week coming up :(

When I first started MFP, I stopped a binge of chips and queso in its tracks because I logged it and realized I'd just ate 1000 calories in 15 minutes as a snack before dinner! Ack

    Thanks for the reminder :)

While I agree that exercise would be a great idea and good for cramps...it's just not happening today. Not leaving the apartment.

And MadDogManor...you are most welcome for the reminder. It seems to be working for me.

It's 7:30pm and I made poached salmon with zucchini, a touch of pesto, and had a greek yogurt w stevia for dessert.

2 days of not working out sucks, BUT, I managed to get through the last few days and especially today, WITHOUT binge eating and that is a HUGE accomplishment for me.

Still not out of the woods, I know, until I sleep, but only a few more hours then dreamland. And....

    Tomorrow is another day.

You did great.. Your dinner sounds awesome and yummy.. Sometimes you have to have a binge day. but even then I always keep in the back of my mind what I am eating.

You did the right thing reaching out to your MFP peeps and asking for help and hints.. Keep up the great work and remember TOM is only a short inconvenience.

floss your teeth and brush them- this will help with not eating more.
good job with your healthy dinner, and lots of protein so you should feel full.
at this point if you binge you will feel like hell all night long and in the morning too so think about that.
also remember- all the foods you want to binge on you can still have at some other point in your life, even this week, in reasonable portions at reasonable times!!!

You did great! I'm glad writing it down helped for you.

Sometimes when I think I want to eat I really just want to be chewing something, so when I feel like I need to eat everything in the world even though I've eaten I go with grapes or salad shrimp, because you can spend ages eating them for relatively few calories. (9 of my go-to shrimp are 40 cal, according to the package, so even eating the whole bag would be 400 calories at most, which is far less than some binges I used to have.)

And remember, there are tons of workouts that can be done at home. You can even youtube home workout routines, or check out You Are Your Own Gym, which requires no equipment whatsoever.

It is ok you ordered them, you even did great by cutting back a LOT on that order. When it arrives you don't have to eat it all right? Just have the things you really really want badly and work out a little extra over the week. You can also make up for the bad days by eating lighter some days this week too. You can balance it out.
