Spotted this on the BBC this morning - while you technically don't have to exercise to lose weight, there are benefits to exercise aside from weight loss. I don't think this is news to most but I know a few people who loathe activity and am hoping will spot this. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-30812439

I knew someone who forced her overweight husband on a diet, and sent him to the Dr. He was healthy - his cholesterol was low, his heart was healthy, and he had no medical issues to speak of. She had herself tested as part of the deal – she was as skinny as a rake, but her cholesterol was sky high, and her blood pressure was through the roof.
- Her husband was on his feet all day, and sailed for a hobby and loved to eat, where as she stayed at home all day and didn't move around at all.
