i eat alot throughout the day, but its alot of low calorie choices. Im not tired or hungry and im gaining muscle and losing fat. Mfp doesnt even let me close out my food diary under 1000 calories. Anyone else have this problem. Do you eat just to hit the magic number? Ive been eating like this for quite, its not a new thing. It just seems counterproductive to eat when im not hungry

yeah, you can't possibly be building muscle on 1,000 calories a day.
If you were 5 feet tall and only weighed 100lbs your BMR (the amount of calories your body needs to just keep you alive and move your blood around) would be over 1,000 calories (1178 for a person of those stats). Check out scooby's calculator and get a realistic estimate of what your body needs to survive and thrive and give it that.
If you are having a hard time (really) getting in enough, eat more nutrient dense foods. Almonds for example have 326 calories in about 50 of them. I don't know about you, but I could eat that many almonds watching a movie.0 -

What makes you think you're gaining muscle?0 -
Add a favorite snack to fill in the lack of calories (ice cream, popcorn, etc.). You'll lose weight and be able to eat what you love.
1,000 calories or less isn't safe.0 -

If you are gaining muscle,
if you are losing fat,
if your health is good,
if your energy level is good,
maybe you are underestimating your calorie count.0 -
Assuming that your logging is accurate and you aren't eating more than you think (it's pretty common to underestimate) adding more calorie dense foods is a quick way to increase the calories without adding a lot of extra food to your day.
This is a generic list and doesn't account for your personal definition of healthy, but anything here can be included in a balanced diet (as long as there are no allergies, medical conditions, obviously):
avocado
cheese
full fat diary
Greek yogurt
ice cream
peanut butter (or other nut butters)
dark chocolate
less lean cuts of meat (including beef, pork, sausage, etc.)
seeds (chia, flax, sunflower, etc.)
nuts
olive oil
coconut oil
butter
beans and lentils
protein shakes, bars, and smoothies
hummus
beef jerky
cornbread
tuna
full calorie condiments
full calorie sauces & dressings
sour cream
guacamole
whole grain pasta
rice
bacon
whole eggs
quinoa
fruit and fruit juices
pretzels
bananas
scones
muffins (bran, blueberry, banana nut, etc.)
potatoes (sweet, red, gold, purple, white, etc.)
granola
coconut
salmon
edamame
honey
molasses0 -

Man I would be starving if I ate under 1,000 cals.
Check out scooby's TDEE calculator : http://scoobysworkshop.com/accurate-calorie-calculator/.
MFP won't let you close out for diary for the day because in most cases 1,000 isn't enough for a person. Are you eating back exercise calories?0
