Dilemma!

Ok so I have been doing pretty darn good lately, today is my little brothers birthday and he wants to go to Red Robin for dinner, there is pretty much nothing there within my comfortable meal limits, even salads are over 1200 cals and sodium. They invited me to go, he is only 12 so I don't think he would be too heartbroken if I didn't go. Normally I would just go, but on wed my District Manager is flying into town and is going to take me to dinner, So That would be 2 restaurant visits in a week, should I pass one up? Or drink my weight in water and up the work outs for a bit and do both?

Go to both. Just because a restaurant portion is 1200 calories doesn't mean you have to eat the whole thing. A restaurant meal is usually good for 2-3 meals for me.

I would go to both. What I've done before is ask for a to-go box with my meal and immediately put half of it in the box for later. Kept me from overeating and I still got to enjoy restaurant food without feeling so guilty.

Eat smaller portions of the meal and take the rest home for later. Don't miss out on a family event because of a restaurant's selection. There are ways to make it so you don't go over your limit.

Go to both... don't let your diet limit your life. you dont have to eat... eat something before and get a coffee at the restaurant... i think it's more about being present for your bro. but i'm the same way with all birthdays lol i always end up going... and even have a little slice of cake..or two or three haha.

What I do is order what I want and immediately box up half my meal. Usually I cant even finish the half. And I usually will order a side salad before my meal and get my salad dressing on the side and dip each bite in the dressing.. i never use more than half the little cup they bring that way.

Actually Red Robin has a nutrition calculator online and i know you can get a meal for less than 1200 calories. I checked and a Turkey burger with no mayo and a side of broccoli is 534 calories.

Yes. We recognize the importance of enabling our guests to make informed menu choices and we have nutritional information available on this web site under the Menu link on the main navigation and then click on the Nutrition Customizer link in the right sidebar. We are always happy to customize your favorite Red Robin menu items to meet your dietary preferences. When you visit Red Robin, let your server know if you would like to modify your order and it will be our pleasure to customize your Red Robin selection to meet your needs.

Red Robin has a grilled chicken breast sandwich that isn't to bad calorie wise, especially if you don't eat the bun. You can get it with a fruit cup instead of fries. I like to get the chicken and a side of avocado slices for some healthy fat. Not much you can do about the sodium, all restaurant food is horrible for that.

Chicken Ensenada Platter w/only one chicken breast and a ton of water. That's my go-to Red Robin meal.

You need to incorporate your new eating habits into normal life, so got o both. Just do some big cardio workouts beforehand.

If you can't manage to stay within your dieting goals, just stay within maintenance. it will slow down your progress but do no harm.

Take home boxes are your best friend.

I eat out multiple times in a week, sometimes two meals a day....most of the time I'll tell them up front to divvy the portions in half and box it so I can eat whatever is on the plate (makes it feel less like a diet/lifestyle change that way).

Agree. Life is short, celebrate the birthdays and happy events in life.

It's a lifestyle change, not a diet. Are you going to avoid restaurants for the rest of your life? I bet not. So, eat half the portion and ask for a box. Eat a salad and ask for the dressing to be on the side. Eat steamed veggies instead of french fries or veg cooked in oil, etc.
