Fast weightless due to tonsillitis question,

Hi!
Hoping someone can help. I began MFP seriously on Boxing Day. I stuck to my goal calories and added in exercise. I lost 7lb in the first 8 days. (I realise this was water mainly). The second week I came down with tonsillitis. It was horrific - 6 days in bed - I tracked my intake and it was barely over 300 cals a day. As a result I lost another 5lb. So in total I lost 12lb since December 26th.
Now that it am recovered I am back to eating my 1200cals per day and have started running again. I put back on one of the pounds I lost - I hadn't really drank for a few days while I was ill so was expecting to gain some back.
Question is, I've been back on it for 5/6days and my weight is still at the same point. How long do you think it'll take before I start to lose again? I am weighing everything and tracking everything.
Thank you!

hi there. I'm not sure but I do have some words of wisdom for you..:) don't rush the process! 1200 cal seems to me like a very low calorie intake. I would imagine you are finding it hard to stick to and are possibly cranky and tired feeling? I am losing weight on almost 1700 cal and almost effortlessly. I am just tracking food, getting on with my life and the weight is coming off0

edit - I am also do resistance training so hopefully most of my weight loss consists of fat rather than fat and muscle tissue.0

Thank you! I'm just sticking with what MFP has set my daily intake goal at. At the moment I'm not finding it too difficult to stain at 1200 - I'm usually there or thereabouts without being hungry / tired.0 -
It's possible you are losing fat but getting the water weight back, and so it isn't showing on the scale. If there is one thing I've learned on MFP, it's patience0

One thing I can guarantee is that you didn't lose 12lbs of fat in 14 days - your water levels are fluctuating so do not worry if you have static weights for a few weeks as your body catches up with what it's been through
just keep on keeping on - track your calories, eat back your exercise and fuel that running
good luck0 -
You lose water when you have tonsillitis because it hurts so much to swallow you get dehydrated. You probably lose some fat too since you eat less, however you move a lot less and it takes some time to get back up to speed even once you've started eating again. Plus if you have it long enough, you lose muscle mass as well as fat, and that's no good for weight loss.
Give yourself 2 weeks of healthy eating and exercise without worrying about your weight. Start tracking weight loss after that if it's important to you.
Hope you feel better now. I used to suffer with chronic tonsillitis (months at a time leading to chest infections - fun!) until I had those bad boys removed. I know your pain!0 -

Oh it definitely wasn't fat I was losing - I was really dehydrated and now feel like I've 'filled back out'! I'll keep sticking with it as I know it'll have to give in at some point!!!0 -

It was horrific! I'd never have believed that a throat infection could've had me in bed for a whole week!!! Today is day 9 of the penicillin and it's done an amazing job - I'm like a different person!!!
