barbecue sauce

Hello, hello.

I am looking to make some pulled pork this week. In the past I used ginger ale and barbecue sauce with the pork butt in the crock pot. This time around I'll be swapping out the ginger ale for diet, and using a pork tenderloin, but I'm not sure about the sauce. Any suggestions for a reasonable (calories, sugars, sodium) sauce? I'm not expecting miracles... just trying to limit the damage!

  • BBQ sauce normally has a lot of sugar that's kind if unavoidable and probably why it tastes so good. Trader Joes has a really good Kansas BBQ sauce that's healthier than most and organic if you can get there I recommend thst I also have a recipie I can go find if you're interested. Your can also never go wrong with sweet baby rays may be a little heavy one the sugar but it tastes damn good and I don't think people expect pulled pork to be wicked healthy or anything

Pre-rub your tenderloin (2 hrs) with half chili powder & half paprika. I'm not sure about a crock pot but it is awesome on the grill, off heat.

I make my own with some molasses. I skip on the brown sugar while making it - but this makes a more liquid sauce and it's not as sticky and normal bbq sauce.

Stubbs original is low carb compared to other off the shelf products.
