So I used MFP to lose 20 lbs 4 years ago. I was unhappy with a few personal things in my life so sticking with the diet gave me a sense of control. ie. Motivation was not an issue.

Now I have made some drastic changes in my personal life, so I am much happier - that's the good news. Bad news is I gained back half the weight in a matter of 7 months. Part of it is that one of the changes has been a relocation to DC, and I am having oodles of fun exploring this foody/alcoholly city. Actually, I think that is not just part of it. That is all of it....

I want to get back on the wagon now that the holidays are over. I'm getting in my workouts, but I am having trouble avoiding the binges. They are fun and with fun, new friends, but like all the funnest things in life, I wake up with a guilty conscience, hating the scale, wearing my bigger clothes, and sapped of energy to get a good workout. Before my relocation, I was having fun without the calorie binges. Surely I can get back that mindset post move.

So I am back to logging my food and hoping engaging in the community with talk will help me get through the binge urges. Any fun lovers out there with tips on avoiding binges will be mucho appreciated by yours truly.

Goal for today - Stay within my calorie limit, and even though it is a Friday, get an hour of exercise Then early to bed so I can get up and enjoy the weather tomorrow with some calorie burning activity. (apparently this is my goal for today and tomorrow :)

Good for you! You recognized what is bringing the weight back on and are setting goals to correct it. You got this!

Hello. Happy MLK Day. So I am happy to report I reached my goal for Friday and Saturday. On Friday night, I had a very pleasant happy hour at my favorite restaurant where we enjoyed some lobster waffles and celery root soup. I know that sounds fattening but these lobster waffles truly are the perfect portion size so as not to be considered a splurge. I went into the evening with a limit on wine and stuck with it.

Bikram session on Saturday morning was my prize for behaving which always feels amazing, particularly when it is over. The rest of the day I stuck to my limits and stayed active throughout.

Sunday though....I am glad it is the last weekend of playoff NFL football. I don't need to drink steadily throughout the day to enjoy football, but the temptation is just so great. I spent some quality time with friends watching the games which lead to nachos and pizza. Eventually we did go dance to some live music, so along with that and a morning power walk, I did score some aerobic activity. Final result was a calorie net of 800. This was another binge, and I am not proud. But I also practiced good behavior for most of the weekend and I had a good time. Just gotta keep working to avoid the binges.

So today is a new day. And it is a day off from work to boot. I will make time for activity because that is the goal every day, and I will stay within my calorie limit. Happy healthy lifestyle to all who read this far :)

Hello. Happy Tuesday. Quick update. I did not stay within my calorie limit on MLK Day, but I had a lot of fun. Walked a few miles with a friend to shop and see The Birdman. But instead of seeing the movie, we did a progressive happy hour. We had loads of fun and talked with some classic DC characters. There were a couple of the established lobbyists who seemed surprised we hadn't heard of them. There were a couple of good natured tourists, which are always my personal faves. And the old polititiony looking guy with two beautiful, young staffers.

Despite my disregard, I logged my calories and I netted 1000 (eek!!!).

So today, I am happy to report a net calorie of negative 300. I accomplished this awesome net by attending a killer yoga class and eating healthy snacks throughout the day.

So yay for me :) One good day down. Love and support to the other dieting fun people out there.

So more cottage cheese. Less regular cheese. Cheese is why I am getting my calcium while over shooting my calories. It is so delicious and pairs so well with wine, but this is no excuse. If I am going to lose weight I have to control my love for cheese.

Does anyone feel me on this?
