Ground chicken/turkey vs. ground beef

Considering the fat percentages, does anyone know if there are advantages to ground poultry vs. ground beef? Say for example 85/15 ground turkey vs. 85/15 ground beef. Thanks

Can't think of any logical reason.0

Allergy, intollerance, taste and personal preference aside, not much. There are differences, of course, but whether those differences would = advantages would depend on the rest of your diet.0

Taste?0

For me the main difference is price. I can get 90/10 (I think) ground turkey for $2.49/lb in a 3lb pkg. Similarly lean ground beef is $5/lb, even in bulk packs. So I favor turkey for price.
However, taste wise I prefer beef in my meatloaves and burgers. If it's chili or meatballs or casseroles, turkey tastes just fine (IMO).0 -
Price & taste; typically you can find ground chicken cheaper than beef. Ground pork is also generally cheaper than beef, but not as cheap as chicken. With a good eye on seasoning you can substitute ground chicken for beef, depending on what you are cooking.0

The amount of proteins versus the fats. Given similar fat percentage, you look at the protein level. Otherwise, they're both good, it is just up to preference I guess.0

only depends on what I'm cooking and how expensive it is.
I don't particularly care for ground chicken- so- turkey or beef.0 -

Really!? It's the other way around here.0 -
It's the other way around here, too. But that may be because I live in Alberta, and a lot of beef is raised here.0

Yeah, price and taste, depending on personal preference. Also, just variety, depending on what else you are eating.
For whatever reason, I don't care for ground turkey/chicken (other than in chicken chili), so stick with the beef if I want the ground stuff (or pork or lamb), but really like non-ground-turkey and have started slow cooking breasts to have on hand for lunch.0 -
turkey is higher priced where i live *unless on a big sale* and i prefer beef flavor anyway. sometimes i mix turkey w/ beef and also sausage for a really great flavor. i get the highest fat possible as it cooks-off anyway, and it's cheaper. yes, in the end, i'm probably getting less overall, but if you only have $5, you only have $5!0
