Currently I run every other day and then do strength training on the other days, with now Sunday as a rest day besides Broomball.
What are thoughts on running every day and weights every other instead?
And why don't strength exercises reduce calories?

Many people choose to do it that way. It's a preference thing.
You can enter your workouts as strength training under cardio for calorie tracking purposes.0 -
As long as the running isn't so intense it's interfering with your recovery, no reason not to run every day...all depends on the person. If you start feeling more run down than you used to, or stalling out on the weights more than you used to, it's re-evaluate time.0

I do the exact same thing you do, minus the Broomball. It works for me. I used to gripe about working out six days a week, but it's better than working out for an hour or hour and a half three days a week! Makes me feel more at ease.0
